All egress wells, no matter what they are made of, require a ladder for wells greater than 44” deep, or have built-in steps.

How do I maintain my window well?

Windows that are partially or fully below ground level need window wells to maintain access and prevent soil pressure against the glass. Homes with windows slightly above grade level can also benefit from a window well keeping soil and water away; keeping the window frame dry.
